Established in 2001, The Abba Eban Program of Graduate Studies in Diplomacy, the first of its kind in Israel, is modeled on successful programs at institutions of higher learning abroad: Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Diplomacy, Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, Syracuse University’s Maxwell School and Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of International & Public Affairs.

The Chaim Herzog Institute for Media Politics & Society was established in October 2002, at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Tel-Aviv University. The Institute is named after Chaim Herzog, the sixth president of the State of Israel. The Institute’s goals are to conduct academic research and to create a cross-disciplinary platform for conferences, seminars, meetings and discussions and critical appraisals as they relate to the reciprocal links, connections and influences between media, society, social issues and politics.

The Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies is an interdisciplinary research center devoted to the study of the modern history and contemporary affairs of the Middle East and Africa. The Center does not take positions or recommend policies. Through research, publications, conferences, documentary collections, and public service, it seeks to inform civil society and promote dialogue on the complexities of the ever-changing Middle East. In doing so, the Center hopes to advance peace through understanding.

הפקולטה הינה רב-גונית ומיוצגים בה מגוון התחומים של מדעי החברה: כלכלה, מדע המדינה, סוציולוגיה ואנתרופולוגיה, פסיכולוגיה, תקשורת, לימודי עבודה, מדיניות ציבורית, לימודי בטחון, לימודי דיפלומטיה, יישוב סכסוכים וגישור, עבודה סוציאלית.

בית הספר לעבודה סוציאלית ע"ש בוב שאפל קלט את המחזור הראשון של תלמידי הבוגר בשנת הלימודים 1969/70, את המחזור הראשון של תלמידי המוסמך, בסיוע הג'וינט ומשרד העבודה והרווחה, בשנת 1978/79 ואת המחזור הראשון של תלמידי הדוקטורט בשנת 1986/7. בנוסף, בית-הספר מציע לתלמידי הפקולטות למדעי החברה ולמדעי הרוח לימודי חטיבה בעבודה סוציאלית. החל משנת 1976 פועלת בבית הספר גם יחידה להשתלמויות וללימודי המשך, המיועדת לעובדים סוציאליים, עובדי רווחה ועובדים טיפוליים מתחומי מקצוע קרובים.

The Minerva Center for Human Rights was established in January 1997 as a joint center of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the Tel Aviv University, with the support of the Minerva Foundation Company for Research Ltd. in Germany. Since its establishment, the Minerva Center for Human Rights in Israel has served an important function in developing research and discourse in the field of human rights.

החוג לתקשורת באוניברסיטת תל-אביב הוקם ב 1995 ומאז הקמתו הינו אחד החוגים המבוקשים בפקולטה למדעי החברה. במסגרת החוג לתקשורת ניתן ללמוד תקשורת לתואר ראשון, שני ושלישי. ללימודים בחוג יתרונות משמעותיים כיוון שהוא ממוקם בתל-אביב, במרכז זירת התקשורת הישראלית והוא נהנה ממשאבי הקמפוס האקדמי הגדול בישראל. החוג מקיים שיתוף פעולה עם מכוני תקשורת ועם ארגונים חברתיים וציבוריים, וכן עם מגוון חוגים ברחבי הקמפוס. סגל החוג מצטיין בניסיון אקדמי ומקצועי עשיר ורבגוני והינו מעורב בפעילות חברתית ומקצועית בתחומי תקשורת שונים.

מכון הרצג לחקר ההזדקנות והזיקנה נוסד בשנת 1992 באוניברסיטת תל-אביב.
למכון אוריינטציה רב-תחומית המתבטאת בהנחייה משותפת של הפקולטה למדעי החברה והפקולטה לרפואה. נוכחותו של המכון בקמפוס מסמנת את התעצמות המחקר בנושאים הקשורים בהזדקנות במחלקות האוניברסיטה השונות.
